SHADE exhibition at Sassoon Gallery
SHADE is a group exhibition of new works by young London based artists Stephen Doherty, James Cabaniuk, Karis Clapperton and Tom Cameron. Through focusing on colour we take the authority away from the image and transcend language. The show celebrates the sensation of colour and it’s power and versatility as a vehicle for artists. SHADE is curated tonally with the work shown as new assemblages, the importance placed on the emotive abilities of colour rather than the individual artists identity, inclusive of our gendered approach. SHADE circumvents imagery to achieve a new narrative and aesthetic experience. Through combining individual pieces and practice we are creating a show that is emotive rather than exclusive; re-purposing traditional forms of making to create an immersive experience.
